The ZERO1 concept sports cars won't make it to production but serves to project the future design language the company will adopt in its future cars.

So much for all the hype that Faraday Future has been creating, all of it has culminated into the FFZERO1, the all-electric single seater racer concept which however will never make it to the production lines. The concept is still significant in that the FFZERO1 serves to provide us with a glimpse of what the future design theme that the company will be adopting with its future road-going automotive ventures which the company stated should be a reality within the next few years.

Interestingly, the concept car seems to have got leaked accidentally via its app even as the company is all set to launch the car tonight at the CES event.

Among the more important developments that the concept car comes to signify is the Variable Platform Architecture that the car sits on. And one of the biggest strong points of the bespoke modular electric platform is that it can be easily reconfigured to suit different vehicle types.

The platform is also designed to house up to three electric motors and can suit both two-wheel and four-wheel drive layouts. A fourth motor too can be added with little modifications. Adding to the platform’s adaptability is the way the batteries are attached to it, which the company claims is done via strings.

As for the concept car, it features a quad core motor setup with a combined power rating of more than a thousand horses or 968 bhp. The 0-60 mph comes up in less than 3 seconds while the top speed of over 200 mph. The McLaren P1 GTR with a similar power rating has almost the same performance credential as well with a 0-62 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top whack of more than 200 mph.

The cockpit comes with all the sci-fi bits that’s expected of a concept car, which includes augmented reality displays that gets projected onto the windscreen. Similarly, several of the car’s functions can be controlled vis a mobile phone mounted on the steering wheel. The car also boasts of a host of sensors to allow for autonomous driving ability in future versions.

“An extreme test bed for the fundamental ideas we are working on for upcoming vehicles” is how design chief Richard Kim described the FFZERO1 concept.

The President confessed its been one of his childhood dreams driving the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette.

It’s not every day that you get to see the President of the United States take to the wheels of a vintage sports car to feature in a comic web series, ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’. Incidentally, the car in question here is an icon in its own right, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette.

“This is a sweet car right here,” said President Obama. “This is beautiful.”

Barack Obama is known for his sense of humor and this happens to be the first instance of him taking things to new heights by featuring in a popular comic series. Obama also confirmed driving one of these has been one of his childhood dreams.

The entire driving around was however restricted to within the White House grounds though that should be enough for Jerry Seinfeld to have the ride of his lifetime, both in the Corvette as well as the President’s limo. Thereafter, it is the presidential café that played host to the two for a cup of coffee.

They both discussed a variety of issues which includes Obama’s most embarrassing moments while in office, his habits, hobbies and such.

Faraday Future has released a new teaser video though its only the company logo, some portions of the headlight and the wheels that get depicted.

The secretive car company Faraday Future has released a new teaser video that provides us with a rare glimpse of what it future electric vehicle will be like. Needless to say, all of it is too obscure at the moment though fortunately, we don’t have a lot of waiting to do considering the planned launch of the new Tesla competitor at the upcoming CES event is just round the corner.

Faraday Future has already promised their new car will usher in a new revolution in the automobile sector, not only in terms of the cutting edge technology it will be packing in but also in terms of a new model of ownership experience it will be introducing. Of course the company isn’t spilling all the beans just yet but has hinted it will sort of mimic the way smartphone or tablet buyers get into usage agreements with service providers.

Meanwhile, here is the video.

Faraday Future has been fiercely guarding its upcoming electric car, so much that its only the shadow of the car that is shown in the video.

Faraday Future, the secretive startup company that plans to launch electric cars may not have done so yet but is already projecting a future that is sans any conventional cars. The company also used the video to provide a sneak preview of its upcoming Tesla rival though if only the shadow of it as depicted in the video can be called such.

However, apart from making its intentions clear of launching a zero emission electric car much on the lines of Tesla, the company has also stated they won’t just stop at selling the car to the buyers. Instead, that would mark the beginning of a new relation with the focus then shifting to selling services and such much like what happens when someone buys a smartphone. The company promised it would mark a unique approach to owning a car and will also serve as the meeting ground between automotive and the technology industry. These apart, Faraday Future have also stated they would redefine the way we know of autonomous driving as of now.

In any case, the video does make sense at a time when even the air we breathe is now on sale as has been the case in Beijing recently.

Bentley has released a new video that sort of depicts the behind-the-scenes efforts that has gone into the making of the Bentayga.

Bentley has launched a new video that depicts the Bentayga journey so far. The SUV has set new standards so far as luxury and performance is concerned, so much that it has prompted its makers to come up with various derivatives of the Bentayga. These include a coup-like SUV along with another SUV with dimensions smaller than the Bentayga.

The Bentayga also makes for several firsts for Bentley: the first SUV from the British carmaker while also being the first to come with a diesel engine. Starting at $229,100, the Bentayga is also the costliest SUV currently available though that has not deterred buyers from parting with their money for the SUV.

The journey began back in 2012 when Bentley has first showcased the SUV at the Geneva motor show. Named Exp 9 F Concept, the version had however failed to draw any positive response, prompting Bentley to remap their efforts all over again. The result is the Bnetayga and the rest, as they say, is history.

An interesting video of the Aventador playing with the snow.

It isn’t every day that one gets to see a Lamborghini Aventador being thrown around in the snow, kicking off a snow storm of sorts in the process. It is exactly this that makes the video all the more special. Mention must also be made of the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system that the driver of the $400,000 super car made the best use of. This does make for better control over the car along with thoroughly enhanced driving characteristics. Needless to say such driver assist systems did play a part in saving the skin of the driver as well as that of the driver even after the way the Lambo was unleashed in the Chicago snow.

Watch the video below for a better idea of it all.

New images and video of the Concept IAA revealed.

How about a car that stretches itself just to improve upon its aerodynamic abilities? Meet the Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA and for those who might have been living under the rock for a while now, the car was introduced last September at the Frankfurt motor show.

The biggest claim to fame for the Concept Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile is its drag coefficient which at 0.19 is already among the lowest in any car right now. That is not all for the car can actually stretch itself by 390mm to further lower the aerodynamics even more when speed crosses 50mph. And a natural fall out of lower aerodynamics is better fuel economy.

As for its looks, the IAA is a sleek and stylish car that is bristling with technology. A plug-in hybrid system comprising of an electric motor and a conventional gasoline engine ensures there are 279 PS of peak power. A pure electric range comes to 66kms while damage done to the environment comes to just 31 grams of carbon dioxide for every kms.

Mercedes though has stated the IAA will never be destined to reach production lines the technology can be borrowed over for future Mercedes models. Meanwhile, here are the new images of the IAA along with 2 new videos as well.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is seen in the video tackling the icy Silverstone circuit replica carved on a frozen lake.

Land Rover has released a nice video of its Range Rover Sport SVR tackling the icy tracks that have been specially made to mimic the Silverstone circuit.

The venue happens to be Lake Udjaur though the ice cover has allowed Land Rover to recreate an exact replica of the Silverstone tracks to create the perfect conditions to unleash the Range Rover Sport SVR. Not surprisingly, the SUV came out trumps thanks to the Terrain Response 2 System it comes equipped with.

The permanent all-wheel drive system along with the two-speed transfer case too played its part, all of which ensured all four wheels has optimal traction at all times. The above set up also allows even 100 percent torque distribution to either axle depending on the surface condition.

Another key feature of the new Range Rover is the Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential that sends the torque to the rear wheel with the most traction.

Behind the wheels is none other than Land Rover Experience Instructor and former rally champion, Minna Sillankorva with Land Rover Ambassador and polar explorer, Ben Saunders giving him company.

As for the SUV itself, it comes powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine with an output rating of 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque. That is enough to propel the SUV to 60 mph from rest in 4.5 seconds while top speed is an electronically limited 162 mph.

The Lamborghini LM002 with 444 horses on tap was perhaps the most powerful vehicle to have gone on sale back in the 90s.

Here is one SUV that not many perhaps are aware of. The Rambo Lambo – a nickname the vehicle has earned over time owing to its butch looks and brute power – refers to the Lamborghini LM002 that was built in the early 90s of which just 301 units were ever made.

The SUV weren’t cheap either, having sold for $1,20,000 or more back in the day, quite a princely sum considering all of it happened nearly a quarter of  a century ago. However, the one featured here appears to be in mint condition and immune to the vagaries of time.

Powering the SUV is a massive 5.2-liter fuel guzzler of an engine that pumped out 444bhp of motive power that is channelled to all four wheels via a five speed manual box. The SUV featured independent front and rear suspension while hydraulic ventilated discs all round provided the stopping power.  The SUV sits on huge Pirelli Scorpion tires each costing $4,300 that has been built especially for the LM002.

Worth mentioning here, Lamborghini will be back with a new SUV which too will have performance in its blood but is expected to have a more refined and urban look with toned down off-road mannerisms.

Meanwhile, here is a video of the LM002 being closely inspected in the Jay Leno’s Garage. And if it sounds too tempting, there is one to be picked up too. For the Rambo Lambo is all set to go under the hammer on Jan 16 under the aegis of RM Auctions.
